This week the Arizona Cardinals host the Detroit Lions in the second week of the NFL season. One of the most intriguing match ups from around the league is in this game, we’ll see arguably the league’s best cornerback go up against the league’s best receiver when Cardinals’s Patrick Peterson tries to defend the Lions’ Calvin Johnson, aka Megatron.

Petereson has been looking forward to the match up.

“That’s all I’ve been thinking about,” Peterson said, via ESPN.com. “I just want to go out there. I’ve been preparing well all week. I believe I have a good feeling of what he wants to do.”

Johnson was quick to praise Peterson.

“He’s big, he’s fast, he has ball skills,’’ Johnson said, via the Oakland Press. “He’s almost like a big receiver but he’s a DB. He’s a heck of a player.’’

“It brings out the best in when you get to go against the best especially when you get one-on one coverage,’’ Johnson said. “Like I said I view it as an opportunity.’’

Arians called both the best at their positions.

“… Probably, in my opinion, the best corner in the league is going against the best receiver in the league,” Arians said Wednesday, via the Cardinals’ official website. “Do we want to leave him out there one-on-one all day? No. But that’s going to happen. He’s going to have to win his share of the battles.”

If your favorite team isn’t playing when this game kicks off, you might want to tune in.
