Today we have what at this moment looks like the marquee matchup of the College Football season. In 2012,Johnny Manziel cemented his Heisman Trophy campaign last year by leading the Texas A&M Aggies into Tuscaloosa to upset the Alabama Crimson Tide. This year the Crimson Tide are heading to College Station looking for a little revenge, even if they won’t admit it.
The line opened up at Alabama by -7.5, since than it has dropped to -9 in most books.
So our guys at Pro Computer Gambler tried to find some trends to help you choose a side.
From Pro Computer Gambler:
Nice Saban is 16-2 SU (straight up) (+21.5 ppg) and 14-4 ATS (against the spread) (+10.53 ppg) with Alabama on the road in the first two months.
Home Underdogs are 22-14-0 (61.1%) SU (avg. line +5.1) since 2001 after 2+ games scoring 42 points or more. Those dogs were 26-10 ATS.
Those stats don’t give either side an edge unfortunately meaning this game is a toss up. Pro Computer Gambler avoided making a pick in this game and routinely points out that marquee games like this can be a trap for bettors because they attract more action.
In my opinion I think it might be a closer game than 9 points, especially since A&M is being given points at home. I’d personally take Texas A&M +9 points.
