There is very little doubt that South Carolina Gamecocks star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is one of the top pass rushers in college football, though some people have been critical and have been over analyzing Clowney’s play which has led to the former Heisman contender saying that he is unhappy with his role in the defense.
Clowney was saying that he didn’t like how he was being used, so now it looks like the team is willing to allow Clowney to move himself around and do whatever he wants out on the field. In a way, Clowney is his own defensive coordinator.
Alyssa Lang of ESPN U passed along the nugget of information:
ESPN’s Holly Rowe reporting that Coach Ward has given Clowney permission to move himself around/change sides of the line on his own.

It’s a bit unusual to see a team allow a player to do whatever it is that he wants on the field but I guess when you are as good as Clowney you get to do whatever you want.
