Rutgers officially retired the No. 52 jersey of former linebacker Eric LeGrand on Saturday night, when the team faced off against the Eastern Michigan Eagles. LeGrand has always been a very inspirational figure in the Rutgers program and he becomes the first player in Rutgers history to have his number retired.

The ceremony was touching and very emotional, but it was great to see LeGrand getting more recognition and praise for all he has done as an inspirational figure since suffering his spinal injury.

The Rutgers program says that LeGrand’s number will be retired when he can finally walk back out on the field again.

If you missed the ceremony, you can watch video of the moment below thanks to ESPN. Of course, you might want to have some tissues next to you because it’s a very special moment that will give you some goosebumps.

Respect to Rutgers and Eric LeGrand. This was an incredible moment.
