Upset Alert: Akron Zips lead Michigan Wolverines late in fourth quarter

The Michigan Wolverines hosted the Akron Zips on Saturday afternoon in one of the early games and a big upset is brewing. After a big win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish just a week ago, No. 11-ranked Michigan is in danger of being shocked by Akron.

Michigan was leading 21-10 heading in to the fourth and final quarter, but Akron was able to storm back with 14 unanswered points to take the 24-21 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

Devin Gardner had a day to forget with his three interceptions which the Zips have been able to take advantage of, including 27-yard pick six from Akron’s Justin March. As a whole, the Akron defense has forced four Wolverine turnovers.

Michigan is no stranger to big upsets — we can all remember their loss to Appalachian State –but a loss to Akron would be a devastating blow to the team.

There is still plenty of time left for Michigan to retake the lead, so tune in to the Big Ten Network for the end of the game.
