Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham spoke on Sunday about the weird end to ASU’s 32-30 win over the Wisconsin Badgers. For those unaware, just watch the video below and do your best to figure out what happened (though know that unless your theory involves an Illuminati-inspired conspiracy to hold down the Big Ten, your theory is probably wrong).
Here are Graham’s thoughts about how things transpired:
It’s hard to see. But from my side, the quarterback goes to try and basically take a knee. From the end zone (angle) it looks like his knee might have been down. From the wide (angle) it looks like he’s not. What he did, he slipped, so he kind of jerked. Whether he got down or didn’t get down, he caused some confusion because their (right tackle) is going like to get on the ball, so it caused our guys to get on the ball.
That’s one of the reasons we always hand the ball to the official, because you hand that ball to that umpire he’s going to put it down and spot it. So there are a lot of teaching opportunities there. (USA Today Sports).
As was reported earlier, the Badgers received word from the Big Ten that the officials botched the call. The Pac-12 hasn’t yet commented on the situation.
