Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Brandon Weeden went down at the end of the team’s loss to the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon after striking his hand against a helmet.
There isn’t much news on Weeden’s hand at the moment, but we do know that he underwent x-rays on his right thumb and they came back negative. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun provided the injury update.
It is likely that Weeden will be day-to-day.
Having Weeden back for the team’s Week 3 match up will be big for the Browns, especially when you consider that it will be the return of wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was suspended for the first two games of the season for a violation of league rules.
If Weeden is unable to go next week, back up signal-caller Jason Campbell will get the start, but that is not expected to be the case.
We will get an official update on Weeden this Monday, when Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski provides speaks with the media.
