With the obvious rookie struggles from New York Jets quarterback Matt Simms, there was an interesting report that surfaced on Sunday morning. According to reports, there is a growing belief that people in the Jets organization could turn to Matt Simms as the team’s starter if Smith continues to struggle.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN:

Simms entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee last season.

He was impressive during the preseason and now he could eventually get his shot thanks to the poor situation the Jets currently have under center.

Smith was pushed to action after Mark Sanchez was injured thanks to a poor coaching decision by head coach Rex Ryan, so the team could make the decision to pull him out of the line up and give another signal-caller a shot if their second-round pick fails to show any improvement.
