The new look Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks have been engaged in quite the war of words this Summer and it doesn’t appear to be letting down anytime soon.

While Nets point guard Deron Williams has stayed relatively quiet in the verbal battle, he did spark a few flickers this weekend when he suggested that he’s ‘backing’ teammate Paul Pierce in his desire to run New York City, suggesting that the Nets’ desire to be the New York team is obvious.

Per ESPN New York:

"Asked about teammate Paul Pierce‘s assertion that the Nets will eventually take ownership of New York from the Knicks, Williams told ESPNNewYork.com, “That’s my teammate so I’m with him. Of course we want to run New York. The Knicks are our rival. I don’t get into too much of the talking. We’ll decide all that on the court. We have four games to play against them and then the playoffs so I’ll let Paul do the talking and I’ll just go out there and play."

Should be one hell of a rivalry between the Knicks and Nets this season.
