LSU Tigers QB Zach Mettenberger should be in Heisman conversation

The No. 7 LSU Tigers have quietly climbed up the ranking over the first three weeks of the 2013 college football season, yet senior QB Zach Mettenberger isn’t getting nearly the respect and attention he deserves as his Tigers sit at 3-0 with him having been one of the best QBs in the nation through three weeks. 264 yards and three touchdowns.

Mettenberger is now up to nine touchdowns on the season with zero interceptions. The senior is thriving in his second season as the Tiger’s starting QB, and he finally loooks to be living up to his potential.

To get an idea of just how good he’s been thus far, look at the top QB ratings in the SEC:

1. Zach Mettenberger 205.3

2. Johnny Manziel 197.7

3. Aaron Murray 194.8

4. Connor Shaw 166.7

5. Brandon Allen 166.1

If he keeps this up, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be in the Heisman conversation.

The Tigers will face a nice test in the form of the 3-0 Auburn Tigers at home this week before a critical road contest @ the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs.

    and who has LSU played?

TCU was a quality team. While I am happy to see the improvements in the QB position from Mettenberger, I also want to see how he does against quality SEC opponents. If he continues his level of play throughout the season, he should absolutely be in the Heisman conversation. Geaux Tigers!!

Not until he plays a quality opponent.
