Rick Adelman had missed some games last season, due to a scare involving his wife. Mrs. Adelman is hopefully doing much better, and it seems that way, as Adelman is now officially back for the Wolves this season. Via the Star Tribune:
There never has been much doubt about Rick Adelman returning as Timberwolves coach, but it wasn’t for sure until he brought his coaching staff out to his home in Portland, Ore., last week and laid out the plans for this season.
Wolves owner Glen Taylor confirmed Adelman’s return Sunday. “Yes, he did [say he’s coming back],” Taylor said.
There was already speculation about his return, but this is straight from the owner. The Wolves were derailed by injuries last season, and if they can stay healthy, they will have a chance to make the playoffs in a deep Western Conference. Having their coach back means stability, and is a positive for Minnesota. With Kevin Love’s future with the team up in the air, it is key that they show some progress to keep him there. Replacing David Kahn with Flip Saunders is also a big help as well. Most importantly, it seems as if Adelman’s wife is healthy, and that is way more important than any basketball game will ever be.
