Chad Mendes vs. Nik Lentz slated for UFC on FOX 9

The UFC has been rapidly announcing fights for the December 14 UFC on FOX 9 event at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento , California and now a new featherweight match up has been added to the mix. On Tuesday afternoon, the UFC announced that Chad Mendes will be taking on Nik Lentz during the event later this year. UFC on FOX 9 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson.

Mendes joins his Team Alpha Male teammate Urijah Faber on the card.

Mendes (15-1) has hauled off four straight wins since suffering the lone loss of his career to champion Jose Aldo. His most recent outing was an impressive stoppage win over Clay Guida in August.

For Lentz (24-5), he will be looking to extend his current three-fight winning streak.

Lentz has been criticized for having a boring style in the past, so it will be interesting to see if he wakes up and comes out swinging for his match up against Mendes.

With the latest edition to UFC on FOX 9, here is the current fight card:

  • Anthony Pettis vs. Josh Thomson – for UFC lightweight title
  • Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald
  • Nik Lentz vs. Chad Mendes
