Do you all remember Derrick Rose? If not, he was the Chicago Bulls star that sat out all of last year with a torn ACL, but now he is trying to get back in the mix in a big way. Not only will he be returning to the court for the Bulls this coming season, but he has plans to play for the USA basketball team next year during next year’s FIBA World Cup in Spain.

“If they select me on the team, it will be an honor,” Rose said, according to ABS-CBNNews.com. “I definitely will be on the team if [coach Mike Krzyzewski] wants me.”

Rose is currently in the Philippines on a promotional tour for adidas.

The only problem for the USA basketball team will be what NBA stars to select on a roster with limited opportunities. When you consider that Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving could have two spots locked down, perhaps Rose won’t get his wish of making the team.

Rose does have something in his favor, however.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is an assistant coach on Krzyzewski’s staff, so he may fight hard to get his star player on board.
