Stanford DE Henry Anderson out Saturday

The Stanford Cardinal will be without a key defensive player when they face their toughest test of the young season Saturday night.   6’6, 282 lb. senior defensive end Henry Anderson injured his leg in Stanford’s 34-20 victory over Army Saturday. According to the Sporting News, he will be out a “few weeks,” meaning he will miss Stanford’s showdown with the unbeaten Arizona State Sun Devils Saturday.

Anderson has 10 tackles and a sack so far this season. According to Stanford head coach David Shaw, sophomore Aziz Shittu will likely see time in Anderson’s place.

As a junior, Anderson was named second-team All Pac-12 and to the first-team Pac-12 All-Academic team. He started all 14 games and record 50 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, six sacks and five pass breakups.

Losing a player like Anderson could be trouble. The Sun Devils are coming off of a 32-30 win over a Wisconsin Badger team that hadn’t given up a point entering the game. The Sun Devils are eighth in the country in passing yards.

The two teams will kickoff from Stanford Stadium at 7:00 pm EST Saturday. The game will be televised on Fox.
