When Starling Marte went down with a hand injury, there was concern the ripple effect would work its way into the National League Central standings. Thankfully, the loss wasn’t felt too hard as the Pirates, who were 72-51 when Marte went down have maintained their impressive record, going 15-12 during that time frame, treading water until he was able to return.
Tonight will be that night as Marte is penciled into the starting lineup for the first time in a month, this according to the Pittsburgh Pirates Twitter:

The Pirates, along with the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals are all tied atop the NL Central and barring a complete collapse, should all make the postseason. However, the seeding in quite important considering whomever finishes second and third in the division will both earn the ‘Wild Card’ spots where they’ll play a one game, winner take all tilt while the division winner will sift comfortably awaiting to begin their Divisional Round playoff series.
Marte will bat leadoff against the San Diego Padres.
