UFC 168 already looked like a must-see event with two title fights at the top of the card — middleweight champion Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva and women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate — and now the event has gotten even bigger thanks to a heavyweight bout being added to the mix.
The UFC announced on Tuesday afternoon that top ten ranked fighters Josh Barnett and Travis Browne have been added to the event, which takes place December 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Barnet (33-6) has won 10 of his last 11 fights, with his most recent win being a devastating first-round knockout win over former champion Frank Mir. With a win over Browne, he could position himself at the top of the heavyweight ladder and earn a shot at re-claiming the UFC heavyweight championship.
For Browne (15-1), he’s looking to continue his rapid rise up the ranks following recent knockout wins over Gabriel Gonzaga and Alistair Overeem.
Fans love to watch the heavyweights do battle and this is going to be one of the most exciting heavyweights of the year. UFC 168 continues to get stacked with great fights and we expect more announcements to come in the next few weeks.
