Updated Heisman trophy odds: Mariota in the lead

After another dominating performance by the Oregon Ducks, quarterback Marcus Mariota has become the Heisman trophy favorite, according to

In a 59-14 victory of the Tennessee Volunteers, Mariota was 23-of-33 for 456 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a touchdown on the ground. The redshirt sophomore now has 11 total touchdowns. His odds are 9-2.

After an incredible performance in a 49-42 loss to the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, last year’s winner, Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel, has the second best odds at 5-1. Despite the loss, Mazniel was 28-for-39 with 464 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 98 yards. Even though he threw just eight passes in the Aggies’ first game, Manziel already has 12 total touchdowns.

Louisville Cardinals quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who was considered the favorite after week one, has 6-1 odds. Bridgewater’s offense struggled in a 27-13 win over rival Kentucky. The junior quarterback had 250 yards on 16-of-28 passing, but only tossed one touchdown.  Another game like that (or a loss at all) could take Bridgewater out of the race.

After passing for 334 yards and four touchdowns in that win over the Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron has 9-1 odds. Florida State Seminoles redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston, who still has more touchdown passes (six) than incompletions (five), was 15-of-18 for 214 yards with touchdowns and his first interception in a 62-7 win over the Nevada Wolfpack. He also has 9-1 odds. Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd, who was idle this weekend, checks in with 10-1 odds.
