Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has the Tigers at 3-0 this season. His statistics aren’t remarkable — 195 yards per game passing with a 61.4% completion percentage and four touchdowns — but he’s put up better and better numbers each week.
One person paying special attention to Marshall is Georgia Bulldogs coach Mark Richt. As you may recall, Richt booted Marshall off the Georgia team in 2012. Speaking with AL.com, Richt talked about how proud he is of both Marshall and LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger (who himself was kicked off the Georgia team in 2010):
Sometimes a guy makes a mistake and you want them to turn it around while he’s here at Georgia, but sometimes it happens at another school and that’s fine with me. I’ve realized those kind of comeback stories can happen at a school besides the school they started out at. I’m really happy for these guys. I want those guys we signed to realize all those dreams.
Richt also complimented Marshall on the game-winning drive he orchestrated last week against Mississippi State. The praise from Richt is a undoubtedly classy but don’t expect too many niceties when the Tigers and Bulldogs meet on November 16th.
