When I first heard that the Chicago Bears signed tight end Martellus Bennett, I was a little skeptical about the decision.

I mean, I’m only a fan of the team, I have no power or say on who they sign or don’t sign but I’m passionate about my football team. Last season we had to watch Kellen Davis struggle the entire season. The man was tall, but his ability to catch the ball was a little shakey here and there.

It’s been hard to replace Greg Olsen.

After having multiple key plays in the last two weeks for this offense late in games, I’m praising the decision to sign this guy. I was literally squatting in front of the television in my living room during Jay Cutler and Chicago’s late fourth quarter drive. I had a feeling he may be targeting Bennett as I’m sure most of the focus was on both Jeffery and Marshall.

When Bennett brought in the pass and got himself into the end zone I nearly ripped the television off it’s mount out of excitement and Gronkowski spiked it.

I think this season if Bennett can manage to stay healthy, he’ll have the best season of his career. He’s been targeted a lot this season by Jay Cutler as he’s brought in 10 receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns.

Now with Chicago traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers on Sunday night, Bennett is listed as probable. Not sure if it was when he collided with the camera man after attempting to make a catch at the back of the end zone or not but, I’m almost positive he’ll start against the Steelers.

This team is going to need all hands on deck come game time. Yeah Pittsburgh may be struggling right now, but all it takes is one game to dismantle an opponent.

With so many weapons on Chicago’s offense, I’m curious to what the game plan will be for the Steelers. Blitz enough and eventually Bennett will be open and he’ll continue to make big plays.

This could be a pro-bowl season for the Bears tight end.
