Although the Saints have earned two key division victories, a 23-17 home victory over the Atlanta Falcons and a 16-14 road win in Tampa Bay over the Buccaneers, they got some bad news Wednesday.
The Saints have placed cornerback Patrick Robinson on injured reserve and have re-signed cornerback, Chris Carr, the team announced via ESPN’s Adam Schefter Wednesday.
Robinson was carted off of the field with a leg injury during Sunday’s game with the Buccaneers.
Robinson had a rough start to his career, but has shown steady improvement. The 32nd overall pick of the 2010 draft became a full-time starter for the Saints last season, starting every game. He had 64 tackles and three interceptions, including one that he returned 99 yards for a touchdown. Robinson saw action in 15 games in 2011 and picked off four passes. Robinson had two tackles so far this season.
Carr was acquired to help replace Robinson. Carr, a nine-year pro out of Boise State, spent last season with the San Diego Chargers, appearing in nine games. Carr has also spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens. In his career, he has 214 tackles and six interceptions.
