Although Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel lost to No. 1 Alabama 49-42 in Week 3, he was still named the Davey O’Biren Quarterback of the Week on Monday.
It wasn’t enough to take down ‘Bama, but Manziel posted a school-record 464 passing yards and five touchdowns, and he gained 98 yards rushing.
The Award also named Alabama’s A.J. McCarron, Ohio State’s Kenny Guiton, Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, and UCLA’s Brett Hundley as honorable mentions for last week.
Manziel won the 2012 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and the 2012 Heisman Trophy.
Texas A&M hosts SMU at 6 p.m. Saturday (ESPNU).
