When Bret Bielema left Wisconsin to become the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, it was given that he’d be bringing his run-first mentality with him. However, it’s doubtful even the most hardcore of Arkansas fans could have predicted the success freshman running back Alex Collins and sophomore Jonathan Williams have had this season. Both running backs rank in the top twelve nationally in terms of yards per game, and they show no signs of slowing down.

Bielema recently discussed the value of having two running backs willing to split carriers:

We’re much better with the two of them playing very, very well, and they’ve bought into that. They’ve got their own little secret running back handshake and all that jazz. I think they’re getting along better and better, and they both know that the reason they’re having success is because of the people in front of them (ESPN).

Arkansas will certainly need both backs to continue playing well. The Razorbacks have one of the toughest schedules in the SEC; they play, over the course of four weeks, Texas A&M, Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama, not to mention the season-ending game at LSU.
