Barcelona manager asks fans to be patient

It is hard to believe that FC Barcelona fans can be impatient. They have the sport’s biggest star and best player in Lionel Messi. They made waves this summer by signing Brazilian superstar Neymar. The Barcelona fans were less than thrilled with their performance in the Champions League opening game against Ajax Amsterdam, which they won 4-0.

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino said the team is making progress and still adjusting to what he wants them to do.

From ESPN FC:

“Barcelona have recently reached footballing excellence so the fans are more demanding,” Martino said. “I understand that they did not like the first half, that they were not satisfied. But they should be fairly satisfied with the second half. It was not a brilliant match but we put in a strong performance. Our second half was better than our first. We controlled the game better, we pressed well and we defended well. But, yes, it is a little worrying that the team can get ‘broken’ at times.”

It’s hard to believe that Barcelona fans could be less than thrilled with Barcelona’s 4-0 victory. It did take a while for them team to click. Messi got a hat trick and that was thrilling for the home fans to watch. They could be eager to see Neymar play a bigger role in the offense and score more goals.
