In a 16-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles took a nasty shot to the head. The hit was delivered by Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson. Goldson was suspended for the Buccaneers’ game against the New England Patriots Sunday, but the league overturned the suspension and instead, fined the veteran safety $100,000.

On Wednesday, Saints quarterback Drew Brees shared his displeasure with Goldson and the way he plays the game.

“He’s had a lot of those,’’ Saints quarterback Drew Brees told the New Orleans media via Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com Wednesday. “He certainly has no regard for the rules in the middle. He’s going after guys’ heads. You can see it.”

On Thursday, Sproles joined in, telling reporters he watched replays of the hit and called it “dirty,” agreeing with Brees that Goldson has a history of dirty play.

“He tried to hurt me on the play, but he didn’t,” Sproles told the Associated Press.

The Saints will host the Arizona Cardinals Sunday at 1:00 pm EST. They’ll next see the Buccaneers on the final day of the regular season, Sunday, December 29, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
