Dallas Cowboys working to improve running game

The Dallas Cowboys are currently sitting at 1-1 heading in to Week 3 of the regular season and they are hoping to become a more well-rounded offense moving forward. Throughout the first two games of the season — against the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs — the team has rushed the ball just 34 times.
Head coach Jason Garrett and quarterback Tony Romo have previously said that the team should run the ball more and now offensive coordinator Bill Callahan plans to install a game plan that will put a stronger focus on the run.
“We’re working diligently to that end of putting together a run game and putting together our players and fitting the chemistry and then definitely calling it and getting it executed on the field,’’ Callahan said, via the Dallas Morning News. “We’ve got to do a better job. I’ve got to do better job calling more runs. That’s something we’re working hard on.’’
The Cowboys passing game has been impressive, but the lack of a strong running game has made the offense predictable.
When they take on the St. Louis Rams this week, expect running back DeMarco Murray to get more carries than before as the team tries to avoid putting Romo in danger of the fierce Rams pass rush, which is led by defensive end Robert Quinn.
