Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion earns Manning Award POW honors

Oregon State junior quarterback Sean Mannion was named the Manning Award Player of the Week on Thursday.

In the Beavers’ 51-48 win against host Utah in Week 3, Mannion was 27 of 44 for 443 yards and five touchdowns.

Mannion was also named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for throwing a school-record five touchdowns. He will make his 22nd career start Saturday.

Oregon State (2-1) visits San Diego State (0-2) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium (CBS Sports Network). Between the two programs, the Aztecs lead the series 2-1 with its two wins coming in 1972 and 1975, respectively. The Beavers got its only victory against San Diego State in 2000, a win that helped the team earn a trip to the 2000 Fiesta Bowl game.
