Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger is stuck in quite a odd situation.
The one time face of the franchise has been all but passed up by Paul George, who not only took his place in the hearts of Pacer faithful, but on the court as well. Now in the final year of his hefty contract, Granger becomes highly valuable trade bait who very likely may not be with the team come the February trade deadline.
That’s not something Granger is thinking about though as he says the time is now for the Pacers.
“It’s really encouraging,” he said. “They kinda see the potential that this group has and I think we’re really going for it. We really are title contenders now and we have to show it.
“I think [Scola’s] probably our biggest free agent pickup. In my mind, he’s a starting power forward in the NBA and I don’t know how we pulled him off and how we got him but we did. I think that’s the brilliance of Donnie [Walsh] and Larry [Bird].”
After all that Granger has been through injury wise, hopefully he’s around to see it through.
