Big week for Cleveland football news, eh?
After trading running back Trent Richardson earlier this week and reportedly being open to moving wide receivers Josh Gordon and Greg Little, now it appears that the Browns will target Houston Texans running back Ben Tate come season end, this according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter appeared on NFL Sunday Countdown and dropped the mini bombshell, suggesting that Cleveland is going to to after Tate hard, who’s not exactly thrilled with backing up Arian Foster.
The Browns lack any type of franchise running back (hell, they don’t even have a stop gap at this point) and while it’s questionable that Tate could be that franchise back, he’s certainly talented enough to see a handful of Pro Bowl’s in a starting role.
Of course, despite the Browns interest in Tate, that doesn’t mean the Texans are just going to allow any move to take place. With Foster looking more and more injury prone, Houston may do whatever they can to keep Tate in red and blue, even if it’s a costly investment for a season or two.
