New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is not expected to play today against the Arizona Cardinals. Ingram is recovering from a toe injury.

Some of the New Orleans media is thrilled about it, like WDSU’s Scott Walker.

He might have a point. This season he has carried the ball 17 times for 31 yards, or a horrendous 1.8 yards per carry. Ingram was also stuffed along the goal line twice in week 2.

Pierre Thomas has carried the ball 14 times for 72 yards and Darren Sproles has carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards. Thomas is averaging a gaudy 5.1 yards per carry. Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles are also active in the passing game catching 8 and 12 passes respectively. Mark Ingram has yet to contribute to the passing game.
