49ers LB Aldon Smith enters rehab

The San Francisco 49ers could be losing their best pass-rusher and arguably their best overall defensive player, as outside linebacker Aldon Smith is reportedly considering an in-season rehabilitation program as the result of his well-documented drug problems:
"Aldon Smith is likely to enter rehab and could go as early as this week, according to reports.Smith played in the San Francisco 49ers’ ugly 27-7 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday (we thought the decision to play him was inexcusable). Smith was arrested around 7 a.m. on Friday morning for suspicion of DUI and possession of pills and marijuana after crashing his car. It was his second DUI-related arrest since he entered the league. He also was stabbed last year at a party at his home. He is facing a lawsuit for allegedly firing a gun during that same party."
Smith played today for the 49ers after being arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. He previously was arrested on a DUI charge in Miami Beach in 2012. In that case, Smith completed a program for first-time DUI offenders and received a lesser charge of reckless driving.
