ESPN Atlanta Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure is reporting that Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson is expected to miss 2-3 more weeks with his hamstring injury.

Jackson injured his leg in week 2 during the Falcons win over the St. Louis Rams. Here is what wide receiver Harry Douglas had to say about Jackson’s absence in week 3 against the Miami Dolphins.

"“I can’t say where we could have used this person or that person. Steve didn’t play,” Douglas said. “And Jacquizz and Snell did play, and did very well for us when they were in there. … Those two were out there playing, and Steve is getting better from his injury. He wasn’t out there.”"

The Falcons loss to the Dolphins in week 3 was not due to the running game. Ian Snelling filled in admirably in Jackson’s place. Jackson is ancient in running back years at 30 years old. The age that I have heard frequently is running backs on the wrong side of 28 tend to head down hill pretty quickly. That very well may be the reason the Rams were not interested in bringing back Jackson this season.

I do like Jacquizz Rodgers. If he can improve on his pass protection, I think he has the ability to be an impact back in the NFL. This might be the opportunity that Rodgers needs to prove he can take on a bigger role in the offense.
