It looks like the Miami Dolphins dodged a hefty bullet after defensive end Cameron Wake was diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain, far better than a complete tear which was originally feared.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora broke the news this afternoon:
More good news for Dolphins fans, the team learned today its a mild MCL sprain for star Cameron Wake, who hurt his knee Sunday
Of course, despite the ‘good news’, it’s still a sprained MCL which isn’t exactly rainbows and lollipops either. A sprained MCL could cost Wake a handful of games and it would be relatively shocking to see him suit up against the New Orleans Saints, even though he’ll have an extra day of rest considering it’s a Monday night.
Still, when the end result is season ending surgery, I guess missing a few games is considered positive news.
Wake has 2.5 sacks through the first three games of the season, though, he only played a few minutes in Sunday’s tilt against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Fish will try to get through his absence and have a bit of breathing room after their impressive 3-0 start.
