After looking like the expected powerhouse they were to be in their opening week victory against the Green Bay Packers, the San Francisco 49ers, especially their offense has floundered the past two weeks – both of them losses.

Of course, missing players like Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis and Mario Manningham isn’t going to help the offensive production, especially when you have inexperienced talent behind them.

That has lead to head coach Jim Harbaugh suggesting in his press conference Monday afternoon that he may activate veteran wide receiver Jon Baldwin, who the team picked up in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs a few weeks back.

Per Matt Barrows:

"Harbaugh on WR Jon Baldwin possibly joining the offense: “That’s possible. He’s doing a good job.”"

Doing a good job or not, nobody else (that’s healthy) in the receiving corps is.

It’s a bit of a desperation move, but the 49ers were already relatively thin at wide receiver when healthy. Now with so many weapons sidelined and the reserves not getting the job done, it might be Baldwin’s one chance to make an impression.
