Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will have an opportunity to get his title back on December 28, when he faces off against the current champ Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 168.
Silva lost his title to Weidman thanks to a brutal knockout, but the former pound-for-pound king does not foresee things going down the same way during the rematch.
In fact, Silva promises to return the favor to Weidman and deliver a knockout of his own.
“I (will) give back the knockout,” said Silva during an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. “I’m working hard now. Chris is the new champion and is a great fighter, but I’m training hard. The new Anderson is coming.”
“I (will) train more jiu-jitsu because Weidman come to fight me and (won’t) stand up together in this fight. Go for the ground, go for the ground. I train more jiu-jitsu, and ninjitsu.”
The rematch will be one of the most highly anticipated rematches in mixed martial arts history, so there couldn’t be a bigger stage for Silva to avenge his first loss inside of the octagon.
