In the wake of the news earlier today that the NCAA has decided to begin taking their foot off of the gas pedal in regards to punishing Penn State by beginning to give back some scholarships starting next season, there’s been plenty of takes on this from around the media world. From the second the news was announced, you’d be hard-pressed to open up your twitter accounts and find someone from the sports community speaking on a subject other than this.
But while everyone has their opinion, most really wanted to hear from the man that personally took on the challenge of leading this program through all of this over a year ago, head coach Bill O’Brien.
Shortly ago, Coach O’Brien gave his thoughts on today’s unprecedented events:
“Today’s announcement by the NCAA is tremendous news,” O’Brien said in a statement. “As a staff, we are especially pleased for our players, who have proven themselves to be a resilient a group of young men. Penn State has long been known for graduating its student-athletes and providing them with a world-class education. The scholarship additions will allow us to provide more student-athletes with a tremendous opportunity to earn that degree and play football for Penn State.”
