Third in the NFL in rushing this season, Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is off to a hot start in 2013. According to Williams, the reason for his improvement is simple: the departure of former offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

Said Williams:

"I’m not going to start anything or push anything out there. I can say this, though — a different offensive coordinator. I can definitely say that. The last offensive coordinator got rid of his starting running back. Did I take a shot? Or did I speak facts? A shot is just like it can be factual but it’s really not. That was all facts. I wasn’t taking a shot at him — he knows what he’s doing (ESPN)."

Williams is not the first Carolina player to criticize Chudzinski, now the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Wide receiver Steve Smith also blasted the former offensive coordinator, saying that Chudzinski was only “positioning himself to just apply for that head coaching job” when he worked in Carolina in 2012.

The Panthers, 1-2 on the season, have a bye this week before taking on the Arizona Cardinals on October 6th.
