Over the past two games, the Cincinnati Bengals have made a concerted effort to put the ball in rookie running back Giovani Bernard’s hands more in the past two games. After registering a mere five touches in a Week 1 loss to the Chicago bears, Gio received went from getting nine touches in a Week 2 win over Pittsburgh, to 14 in Sunday’s win over Green Bay.
With the offense clearly being more efficient with Gio in the game, it’s easy to pound the table for him to get more touches going forward, especially if you’ve got him on your fantasy football team. He already has shown shades of Maurice Jones-Drew, Doug Martin and Ray Rice, three of the NFL’s smallest, yet most-effective backs.
But the Bengals can’t and won’t be too greedy with their newfound offensive weapon.
