Meet the future of the quarterback position for the Florida Gators, at least for this season. Tyler Murphy didn’t think he’d be hitting the filed anytime soon in anything other than finishing up a blowout-win on Saturday vs the Tennessee Volunteers.

Well, it was a blowout for the most part, and he was in at the end of the game, but not because he was in mop-up duty.

No, he’d just become the Gators’ starter for the rest of the year after Jeff Driskel suffered a season-ending broken ankle, and now it’s up to Murphy to keep the Gators afloat and in contention for the SEC East title.

Through his many trials and obstacles, Murphy says that transferring never felt like a real option:

“At the end of the day, I was happy here,” Murphy said. “And like I said, I’m not afraid of competition.” So Murphy accepted the possibility he might never significant snaps. “It was always in the back of my mind,” Murphy said. “I might never play. But I just kept working hard and kept faith in myself.”
