Luis Suarez "champing at the bit" to return

Wednesday bitter rivals Manchester United and Liverpool square off in a Capital One Cup match at Old Trafford. A few weeks ago Liverpool beat United at Anfield 1-0 in a tense match that had Liverpool sitting atop the English Premier League table.

Liverpool has slid to fifth following a draw and a loss, United is currently sitting in 8th and coming off a 4-1 loss to Manchester City in a a derby game.

Liverpool’s stellar start was without last year’s leading scorer Luis Suarez, who was suspended for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. The suspension is over and he wants to play. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers isn’t ready to commit to allowing him to play.

Rodgers comments via ESPN FC:

“He certainly comes back into the squad and we’re delighted to have him. It’s been a really difficult time for him in terms of not playing games.

“But I’ve got to say he’s been fantastic in the way he’s prepared himself over the last few weeks.

“He’s really champing at the bit now to come back and help the team.

“So he’ll travel with us and we’ll reflect over the next 24 hours whether he starts or not.”

In some way you don’t want him to mess with the chemistry of the team, on the other hand though it is a Capital One Cup match and not an EPL game. It will be exciting to see him play with Daniel Sturridge though.
