Citing homesickness and a desire to be closer to his ailing grandmother, UCLA Bruins incoming lineman Christian Morris announced on Tuesday that he’ll likely be transferring to Ole Miss. The 6-foot-6, 293-pound Morris is considered to be one of the top offensive line prospects in his class.
In his announcement, Morris thanked the UCLA coaching staff for all the support they’ve given him:
I respect everything, everything that UCLA does, man. The coaching staff, man, they care about you as a person and not just a player … Coach (Jim) Mora really cared about me as a person. The players there, I respect just everything about UCLA. UCLA, man, it’s just a great place and they’re on the rise of doing something great.
I just thank coach Mora and them for just helping me out. I don’t know what would have happened if they didn’t help me out. I respect them for everything. (Rivals.com).
Though nothing is set in stone yet, Morris indicated that the place he’s most likely to end up is Ole Miss. Morris also said that he will apply for a hardship waiver so as not to lose a season of eligibility.
