After the Cleveland Browns surprisingly decided to trade running back Trent Richardson for draft picks, many thought that other Browns players could soon be shipped off as the Browns compile draft picks. One of the hottest rumors surrounded wide receiver Josh Gordon.
Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski came out and denied any plans to trade Josh Gordon, that was a big relief to the receiver’s ears.
The receiver told reporters Wednesday that Chud texted him to say there won’t be a trade, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Gordon said he was comforted to hear from his coach, but he acknowledged that anything can happen after seeing running back Trent Richardsonshipped to the Colts for a first-round draft pick.
Gordon rejoined the Browns last week after being suspended for the first two games of the year for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. One more positive drug test would draw a one-year suspension from the league, a reality that might keep suitors at bay.
Gordon played a big role in the Browns upset over the Minnesota Vikings last weekend. He caught 10 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown from third-string quarterback turned started Brian Hoyer. So far it looks like Hoyer will start again this weekend.
