Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez loves to hold a grudge. After being hit in his previous meetings with the Atlanta Braves, Gomez was looking to send a statement when he hit the plate on Wednesday night.
After swinging for the fences and missing on the first pitch, Gomez was able to smash one out of the park and it all went down hill.
Gomez mean mugged Braves starter Paul Maholm the entire way around the bags as he jawed at the pitcher to send a message. After rounding third, Gomez continued to stare down Maholm before being met on the path to home plate by Braves catcher Brian McCann.
McCann was unhappy with Gomez and the two got in each other’s faces. With some shoving, the benches cleared and an all out brawl ensued.
Gomez never touched home plate because of the altercation, but he was awarded the home run due to interference.
For their roles in the fight, Gomez, Freddie Freeman and Gerald Laird were all ejected.
