Sports are supposed to bring people together and give us an outlet to enjoy some entertainment as we escape from the real world problems. Unfortunately, far too often we have fans that go too far with their love for their team and it can result in fights and other violent altercations.
Sadly, the poor side of fans was shown when a group of fans after the San Francisco Giants win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night decided to get in a heated altercation that led to the death of one Dodgers fan.
The incident took place a few blocks from AT&T Park, according to a report from the Chronicle. One of the men had a bat, while the other had a knife. After a verbal altercation started a fight, one man was stabbed and taken to the hospital where he eventually died from the injuries.
Thankfully, police has detained three people who are believed to be a part of the heinous crime and have witnesses that they will look interview.
This isn’t the first or last time that fans will go too far and end up hurting one another, but we all need to hope that this can one day come to an end. It’s just a game, people. Keep yourselves in check and don’t be stupid.
