When the Houston Rockets signed center Dwight Howard this offseason, it didn’t sit well with fellow big man Omer Asik.

Asik, who had signed with the Rockets during the 2012 offseason, allegedly requested a trade, something the Houston Rockets and general manager Darryl Morey weren’t interesting in fulfilling.

The Rockets did their best to calm the waters with Asik, reportedly suggesting both players could see time on the floor together and that Asik would continue to get ‘starter minutes’.

The trade chatter died down, though Asik was recently asked about the request where he said he had no comment, insisting he was just here to do his job.

Per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst:

"Rockets C Omer Asik on offseason trade demand: “I have no comment on that, I’m just here to do my job.”"

Asik, given his strangely constructed contract (done in hopes the Chicago Bulls would not match the offer sheet, which they didn’t)  isn’t exactly easy to trade from a financial standpoint, that not even taking into his value from a talent standpoint.

Barring an oddity, it’s hard not to envision Asik and the Rockets making peace as the season goes on.
