Florida Gators give up fake field goal to Kentucky Wildcats (Video)

It looks as if the Kentucky Wildcats may have circled this game on their calendar. You get the feeling watching this game that Kentucky is willing to try just about any trick play to upset the 20th ranked team in the country.

With the Wildcats trailing the Gators 7-0, they lined up for a 42 yard field goal attempt. As the holder caught the snap he flipped it behind his head to a sprinting Joe Mansour who was able to take the ball 25 yards in for a score.

Two things stuck out to me about this play, the first is that this is by far my favorite fake field goal play. I love the no-look flip, it feels very basketball like to me. The second thing is; HOW FAST IS THAT KICKER? I know I am not offending a majority of people when I say that kickers aren’t usually the most athletic people on the team. Apparently Mansour can flat-out run. I know he had a head start but he had no business getting all the way to the pylon with some of the Florida special teams players tracking him.

Stay tuned to this game as I believe we may not have seen the end of the trick plays from the Kentucky offense.
