It’s been a season to forget for the Houston Astros.

After moving to the American League in the offseason, the rebuilding Astros have won just 51 games, nine less than the Miami Marlins who own the second worst record in baseball.

Many of those losses can be attributed to mental mistakes, often from young players, such as the one below from rookie shortstop Jonathan Villar.

During Friday night’s game against the Texas Rangers, Villar, who is about as speedy as they come thought he’d try to surprise the defense and lay down a bunt against Rangers starter Yu Darvish. A relatively good plan considering how filthy Darvish can be and how limited Villar’s offensive game is.

Of course, to lay down a bunt, you actually have to make contact, something Villar couldn’t do considering he had already dropped his bat and was en route to first base before the pitch from Darvish even crossed the plate.

Sorry Jonathan – that one is going to hang around in blooper clips for quite a while.
