Refs blow call in Western Michigan, Kent State tilt in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO — The Western Michigan Broncos were subject to an odd penalty against visiting Kent State on Saturday.

With under a minute to play in the first half, the Western Michigan offense was penalized with a 10-second runoff for having an injured player on the field.

However, the problem is that the injured played was actually Kent State defensive tackle Roosevelt Nix.

Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck asked the referees for an explanation on the botched call at halftime, but the referees were reluctant to tell him why they made the call.

The Broncos were not necessarily in a position to put points on the board, but the call was still wrong.

An update on this botched call will be provided after the game.
