Cleveland Indians vs Minnesota Twins Game Preview

Well, we’ve reached the last day of the season. (Can you believe it?) For the Cleveland Indians, it’s win and you can guarantee at least a spot in the wild-card play in game. The Indians have done what they needed to do, win. After yesterday’s 5-1 win, it’s their ninth in a row.  If they lose, well, it could mean a three-way tie or all sorts of other scenarios.

The Indians turn to Ubaldo Jimenez to help get them there. He’s 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA in the month of September, which has been a huge key to the Indians success this month. His last start came on Tuesday in the Indians walk-off victory against Chicago. He pitched 6.1 innings, gave up two runs and struck out seven.

Opposing Jimenez, will be Scott Diamond, who’s looking to help the Twins play spoiler. Diamond is 6-12 with a 5.54 ERA after a 2012 season that saw him go 12-9 with a 3.54 ERA. Diamond took the loss in his last start on Tuesday against the Tigers giving up four runs, including three home runs. The Twins have lost 16 of their past 21 games going into today’s game.
