Ed Orgeron will be USC's interim head coach with Lane Kiffin fired

USC announced the firing of Lane Kiffin early Sunday morning, following the Trojans’ 62-41 loss at Arizona State. Taking over in the interim will be recruiting coordinator/defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, according to ESPN’s Joe Schad, who also pointed out some potential full-time replacements:

Kiffin was 4-7 in his last 11 games, including 3-2 this year. Kiffin exits with a four-year record of 28-15. The 62 points Arizona State scored Saturday night matched a high given up by the Trojans against Oregon last season.

The Trojans have an open date next week before returning to the field for a Thursday night home game against Arizona Oct. 10.
