Illinois football: QB Bailey earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors

The Illinois football program learned this week that a big win brings big honors.

The Big Ten Conference announced Monday that quarterback Aaron Baily was awarded Freshman of the Week honors for his Week 5 performance in the Fighting Illini’s 50-14 win against visiting Miami (OH).

Bailey rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown and helped the Illinois football team gain 601 yards of total offense – the most yards the team has gained since 2007.

This is the first time Bailey has earned this award.

Illinois (3-1) visits Nebraska at noon Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
